![]() ![]() ![]() Hopefully the lost face data is just a bug from the first sync and it will not continue to erase the data every time I sync. In iOS the face may be recognized, but not identified even though I previously identified it in iOS before syncing and its identified on my mac. I can click on a picture of a person in their album and swipe up to check the face information. I still get the 'Album' version of faces 'From my mac' in the iOS app, but that album doesn't contain the same meta data. I'm not sure why those few stayed, perhaps I didn't identify those faces in the mac picture database or maybe the iOS algorithm is confident in their identities. After syncing with my mac Mini most of the faces that I had sorted and combined were removed except for a few. That didn't happen and now I learn from the Ars review: "If the app mistakenly identifies one person as several different people, you can merge those groups of photos using a Contacts-powered search feature, but these changes won’t sync to other Macs or iDevices even if you’re doing it using your iCloud Photo Library." That doesn't really seem that hard to sync.įrom my experience though I don't think its totally separate - actually I think it may overwrite or conflict somehow. I specifically waited to sync with my mac mini until after upgrading to Sierra with the expectation that it would sync. I spent some time playing with this feature on my iPhone after upgrading. I really like to face tagging feature of the photos app - I use it to automatically keep pictures of my friends and family sync'd on my phone and I was really excited to see this feature embedded within the iOS version of the app, but I'm really disappointed now that I know it doesn't sync. This seems strange do others see this behavior as well? In other words I have a person named joe on my mac, and a person named joe on my phone, but the numbers of joe pics is different on each device despite iCloud Photo Library. However it appears that each device is keeping its own database of people. I also unenrolled from the beta program before doing anything.īeen playing with Photos on sierra and iOS 10: facial recognition is pretty good and I have named numerous people. I then ran the installer in the Apps directory, which took about an hour to "upgrade" 10.12 (A322). It took 90 minutes to get it downloaded from the App Store for an installer on a flash drive. Anyone run the sierra installer over the beta? Not sure if I really want to go through installing fresh again or just wait for the next point upgrade. #Smoothmouse sierra Patch#There's no patch for A323 though - you can unenroll, but you'd still have to run the Sierra installer to actually get up to A323, no? I was in the beta program as well, and stuck at A320 myself. There's an unenrollment process you have to do via your Apple account settings but I forget how. #Smoothmouse sierra download#If I download the Sierra from the App Store I wonder if that will remove me from the public beta program? #Smoothmouse sierra update#For some reason the App Store isn't showing an update available to the actual release build 16A323. ![]()
